This past weekend, my day job led me to taking video of the Southern Belle Invitation Futurity. I don’t know what a Futurity is, but I do know that there were many great looking horses with many skilled riders. My main job was to man the transferring of the video to the hard drives, so I found myself with a little down time to take pictures. This was a “pleasure riding” event, which didn’t give several photographic opportunities in the arena; however, behind the scenes was a different story. This is a small glimpse of what was going on in the stables and warm up areas. Thanks for looking!

My family has owned Futrell Hardware in Pocahontas, AR since the 1930s. I’ve spent many days there including working a full summer in the non-air-conditioned building. One thing that I love about “the Store” is the abundance of textures found around the place. Throughout the summer I will be documenting this family treasure and displaying the textures and other interesting facets on the blog.

My wife and I are in Little Rock tonight to video a conference in the morning. Of course, when you are staying downtown, if there is decent weather at all you have to take a stroll down the Riverwalk. So, naturally I had to take my camera. After taking several photos of the skyline from the footbridge, my favorite picture of the night struck me as we were walking back toward the road. And above is the resulting picture.

As we finished up supper here in Mountain Home, AR, I (with the help of my wife) made a quick dash to the Cranfield area of Lake Norfork. Twilight was upon us and I noticed the pink and purplish hues in the sky. I had only about 5 minutes to get a shot, and after trying a few angles, this is the one I was most pleased with. I hope the rest of my weekend is as productive. Have a great Memorial Day weekend yourselves!

Saturday was probably the hottest day we’ve had this year. However, this awesome family braved the heat for a great session. They mainly wanted photos of their daughter, who recently turned 1, but we were able to get a few with the whole family too. This session also was the first I’ve shot on the McClesky farm, a new location I hope to use further on upcoming shoots. Thanks for a great Saturday!

Recently, I bought a “cookbook” by Jamie Oliver and I’ve been itching to try out one of the recipes. So, since I had a bit of extra time today, I decided to do one. Now, I’m not an experienced cook whatsoever – so I have to take it slow. One of the simplest of recipes I found was pork chops…with apples and sage. When it was all finished, it passed my wife’s approval…so I guess you could say it was a success. I hope to have more pictures of my culinary endeavors soon!
